Diving and Snorkeling (Isla Tortuga)

Take a boat for a day tour to Isla Tortuga, in the Nicoya Gulf. With its white sand beaches and clear calm waters, Tortuga is an excellent spot for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Diving is relatively shallow (up to 10 meters, or 30 feet) in a rocky formation. Day tour includes round-trip transportation from Playa Cielo to the boat, water based activities (snorkeling/ diving), and lunch.

Hiking in Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve

Cabo Blanco is located on the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula and offers a short hiking trail (1.3km, less than 1 miles) or a long trail (4km, or 2.2 miles advanced hike) with excellent opportunity to see the tropical forest, rivers and beach, where one can spot many birds, monkeys and more. Opening hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 8am-4pm.

Montezuma Waterfalls

The sleepy little town of Montezuma offers black sand beach facing the gulf, with calmer waters. It also offers a 20 meter tall waterfall, and a series of three smaller cascades. You can hike to the main waterfall from the village (about 30 minutes on rocks, please make sure to wear waterproof comfortable shoes), and continue on an adventurous hike to the other cascades. You can also hike from the top to the bottom.

Mal Pais Zip Line

Zip line through the forest in Mal Pais, right on the verge of the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, this exciting zip line tour in Mal Pais is nearly one mile long, with 11 platforms set high in gigantic trees that give you great views of the Pacific Ocean.
